According to the U.S. State Department's website, the U.S. and the African nation of Ghana are 'close' and 'strong' allies. Additionally, the U.S. provides Ghana with over $100 million annually in aid and assistance, while many major U.S.-based corporations conduct millions of dollars worth of business there.

In an abhorrent move, Ghana's Western Region Minister Paul Evans Aidoo called for the immediate arrest of all persons 'suspected of homosexual activity' in the region, ordering law enforcement agencies and even landlords to turn people in and make the arrests.

This is more than discrimination; it is pure hatred and violence, and threatens the citizens of Ghana, and international tourists and business people visiting the African country. The United States should not stand for this from anyone, let alone one of our trusted allies.
